E-mail overview

Incoming & Outgoing E-Mail Settings.
The steps below are for Outlook though the procedure can correlate to other e-mail clients. The POP3 account setting, incoming and outgoing mail servers as well as authentication should be checked if e-mail is not working.
Outlook/Outlook Express Setup Instructions.
1. Open your Microsoft Outlook Express.
2. Find the menu at the top of Outlook Express (File, Edit, View, etc...).
3. Select TOOLS and then ACCOUNTS.
4. Find the MAIL tab and click on it.
5. Select ADD and then MAIL and enter the following information.
6. Display Name: Enter your name. (ex. Joe Q. Public)
7. Click NEXT.
8. Email Address: Enter your e-mail address here. (ex. joeq@somedomain.com)
9. Click NEXT.
10. Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
11. Enter POP.FIRSTLINK.COM as the name of your incoming (POP3) mail server.
12. Enter SMTP.FIRSTLINK.COM the name of your outgoiung (SMTP) mail server.
13. Click NEXT.
14. Enter your account name. Please contact FirstLink if you do not have this information.
15. Enter your password.
16. Check the SAVE PASSWORD checkbox (optional).
17. Click NEXT and the FINISH.
18. Select the Mail tab.
19. Double-click on your new mail account.
20. Click on the Servers tab.
21. On the bottom of the Servers tab, put a checkmark in the box that reads "My server requires authentication".
22. Click on the Settings button to the right.
23. If you are using a FirstLink account (this includes any domains currently hosted by FirstLink)
select "use same settings as my incoming mail server".
24. If you are checking an e-mail address that does not exist at FirstLink, you will need to select "Log on using"
and supply the username and password from FirstLink.
25. DO NOT select "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"!
26. Click OK, then APPLY, then OK again. You should now be in the main Outlook/Outlook Express window.
